Winnipeg contacts? Drag the Red fundraising possibility?

TW: Violence against women and poverty.

I just had the amazing opportunity to go to Winnipeg for a week to participate in the Main Street Community Walk and Drag the Red.

If you haven't heard of them, they are both volunteer run initiatives. The community walk happens every Tuesday and Thursday and consists of a group of volunteers taking food, water, clothing and feminine hygiene products out to the poorest neighborhood in Winnipeg. No preaching. No expectations. Just the attempt to make people's lives a little bit better. One volunteer helped a young woman on with a long sleeved sweater and then gave her a warm hug. I saw her a few minutes later and asked how the sweater was and she beamed and said "it's nice and warm".

Drag the Red is an initiative that started in response to the number of missing and murdered indigenous women and 2 Spirit people in the Winnipeg area. Five days a week from the time the ice breaks up to river freeze they take their boat out on the Red River, visually scanning the shoreline for any sign of a person that is deceased or in distress, and dragging hooks along the bottom in the attempt to find the remains of murdered and missing women to bring closure to their families. It is painstaking and sometimes heart breaking work but the volunteers approach their task with strength and courage and hope.

So to the heart of my post, does anyone have contacts in the board game community in Winnipeg? Would they be willing to do some fundraising and or volunteering for either group like pwyf does Carmichael outreach? Both groups are incredible and worthy causes. Thanks for reading.
